  The Site
The former Morrison Street Goods Yard is one of Edinburgh’s longest existing gap sites, having lain derelict for over 40 years.

In July 2006 Scottish Ministers granted planning permission for a mixed use scheme to the EDI Group. They subsequently sold the site to Tiger Developments in December 2006.

As there is already permission to build a mixed use scheme, Tiger could start work immediately.

However, Tiger has opted to go back to the drawing board.

All Change!
In a move away from the dense massing of previous proposals, the site will feature a series of individual city buildings including a prominent hotel building as a landmark entrance to the city centre.

Green principles and sustainable environmentally-friendly buildings are proposed for THE HAYMARKET and have been considered as part of the design from the outset including:
  • Energy efficient buildings
  • Use of renewable energy sources
  • Recycling initiatives including water and rainwater
  • Multi modal transport policies for travel to and from the site.
